Assistant Leaders

Glod relies on students and young adults serving as Assistant Leaders (ALs) behind the scenes at all our holidays.

WHAT DO ALs DO?

Practical tasks such as cleaning, washing up and making packed-lunches are the AL team’s domain, freeing up leaders to look after the needs of their dorms. As such ALs are instrumental in enabling these exciting and dynamic camps to happen.

DO ALs DO MORE THAN CLEAN?

Yes! Aside from practical jobs, ALs meet in groups to learn more about Christian faith and service with the aim of equipping them for servant leadership. There is also plenty of free time in the evenings to hang out and have a good time.

WILL I GET TO DO ANY ACTIVITIES?

Hopefully, yes – ALs are generally free in the afternoons to join in with activities. You may find yourself mountain biking, zorbing or waterskiing but bear in mind, pupils on the holiday are given priority where numbers are limited.

WHERE DO GLOD ALs COME FROM?

Our ALs come from universities all over the country. Some were involved at Glod during school, but many others first came to Glod as ALs. All are subject to the Trust’s safeguarding procedure.

HOW MANY ALs ARE THERE?

Ideally, we need around 16-20 ALs at each summer holiday for things to run smoothly. That means around 100 ALs each summer. So we are always looking for more people. We are thrilled when ALs do more than one camp!

WHAT DO I HAVE TO PAY?

The fee for ALs is £205, which includes full board and lodging. If the cost is a problem for you, please contact the office here.
