Will my child get to be in a dorm with their friends?
All campers are in dorms of 5-6 people normally of their own year group. We will do as much as we can to put your child in the same dorm as their friends that you’ve let us know about on your application.
What if my child doesn’t know anyone else who is going to a Glod holiday?
The fun, games, and activities which are enjoyed together as a dorm provide a great environment to make new friends. With at least two adult leaders per dorm, everyone is cared for and looked after.
Do you need to be a Christian to attend your holidays?
No. Some who come on our holidays are keen Christians who want to be encouraged in their faith. Some are firm atheists who come to enjoy the activities. Most are still thinking things through for themselves. All are welcome and treated with respect whatever their viewpoint. All attend the short Christian meetings which happen twice a day with most of the day being spent in games and activities.
My child doesn’t attend an independent school. Can they still come?
Although our focus down the years has been to cater for young people from independent schools, there are always some young people who attend our holidays who are not in an independent school. Please get in touch with us to discuss further if you’d like.
Will my child with food allergies or dietary requirements be catered for?
Yes, we cater for all dietary requirements.
How do I let you know about my child’s medical needs?
In the month or two before the holiday, we will send you a return form to submit including any medical information about your child. If your child needs regular medication, our designated Medical Officer distributes these at the appropriate time of day.
How do they get there?
You will need to organise your child’s transport to and from a Glod holiday. We can put you in touch with other parents from your school if that would help you to share lifts.
Are all your leaders DBS checked?
Yes, all leaders are DBS checked, as per the Trust’s Safeguarding Policy. Please see titustrust.org/safeguarding-and-safety
Are your activity leaders suitably qualified, and what is your safety record like?
Yes. All those running our activities – both inhouse and outsourced – have appropriate training and experience along with up-to-date risk assessments. We regularly get an external assessment of how we run our activities to ensure we are fully compliant.
Can they contact home?
Yes. At our Senior holidays they can bring their mobile phones (which they hand in at night). On our Inter and Junior holidays they aren’t allowed to bring mobile phones but do have an allocated time each day when they can call home on landline phones we provide.
Do they need to be there for the whole holiday?
Yes. Please contact us if there is a reason they cannot be there for the whole time and we will consider how to accommodate this if possible.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, after a place has been reserved on one of our holidays, get in touch with admin@glod.co.uk if you would like to pay in instalments and we can come up with an agreeable payment plan for you.
How do I apply for a bursary?
On application you are asked if you would like to apply for a bursary, and we would then ask you to fill in the relevant form to find out more.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other queries.
